Kobe McInerny had been out of a kart for several months following a freak training accident, however his return to national competition in Warwick couldn’t have gone better, taking the gold medal at the new-for-2023 Karting Australia Summer Series.

He took the KA3 Junior Light win by just 0.1 of a second over Lochlan Hennock who scored two silver medals in two days in his Wash-It Australia machine.

Charlotte Page doubled up, taking both days in KA3 Junior heavy.

Sydney-sider Reece Cohen took the Gearbox category, despite being pushed all the way by three time KZ2 Australian Champion, Troy Loeskow, while Tyler Everingham – fresh from the Bathurst 1000 where he shared with Declan Fraser – crested the podium in his return to karting.

Hamish Campbell took the premier Junior class, KA2, winning by nine seconds over Isaac McNeill and Jack Steere.

Luke Trost won KA3 Senior, doubling his gold haul with a 3.183 second win over Tommy Harradine and Jake Czislowski in third, while Jackson Souslin-Harlow held on in X30 despite having worn his tyres basically to the canvas. He led home Daniel Brown and Zac Raddatz.

Ryan Macmillan won ROK GP leading home Tyler Howard and Jacob Dowson in the feature race; meantime Jordi Slater led home Bryce Lane and Jack Stimson in TaG.

Lana Flack added to her tally of 2023 wins doubling up in Cadet 12 heading off a last dash challenge from Roman Krutil and Cooper Folley; while Aston Mills was proof of to win you must finish taking out Mini Max when trouble befell his closest rivals – this despite a rollover in the morning sprint race, while Zain Shmeissem – relatively new to the sport – was awarded with a silver medal.
