Dunlop Super2 Series race winner Anton de Pasquale will join Erebus Motorsport for a driver evaluation day at Winton next week.
The 21-year-old is set for a maiden test with a main game Supercars operation, having driven for Paul Morris Motorsport in Super2 since last season.
De Pasquale, who is lying fourth in the Dunlop Super2 Series standings, is set to drive David Reynolds’ Erebus Holden at the rural Victoria circuit on August 8.
Reynolds will be on hand to complete his permitted 10 laps as per the evaluation day regulations.
The opportunity is a chance for de Pasquale to impress having made the switch from single seaters last year.
“It is good chance to drive a different car which I believe will be Reynolds’ car for the day,” de Pasquale told Speedcafe.com.
“It will be good to learn from them and see how they (Erebus Motorsport) operate.
“I have only ever run a Supercar with Paul Morris so it will be a different experience and I’m sure it will be a good one.
“It’s a good opportunity in an uncompetitive environment to show what you can do and give the team what they need.
“I will just do what they tell me and try to drive as fast and as best as I can to show how I have developed over the last couple of years.”
De Pasquale has enjoyed a rapid rise up the touring car ladder having turned to the category after winning the 2013 Australian Formula Ford Championship and the Formula Renault 1.6 Northern European Cup the following year.
The Victorian chalked up his first Super2 race win at Phillip Island in April which has sparked a series of strong results in the second tier Supercars class.
Keen to progress to the main game, de Pasquale is hoping to secure a Pirtek Enduro Cup co-drive next year alongside a third campaign in Super2.
“Ideally I would like a co-drive next year which is a massive step in moving towards the main series full-time,” he added.
“It is massive step and Todd (Hazelwood) in the last co-driver session at Queensland Raceway showed why he has been chosen to do it for Brad Jones Racing. It just shows that the level in Super2 is so high.
“I think as a race driver I’m doing everything I can to make myself ready if the chance does arise.”
De Pasquale and Erebus Motorsport are set to share Winton with Mobil 1 HSV Racing, Brad Jones Racing and Nissan Motorsport, who will run a rookie day for Simona de Silvestro.
