SUPPORTS: Fogg victorious in TCM Trans-Tasman Challenge

Angus Fogg

Touring Car Masters

Angus Fogg took victory in an action-packed Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters Trans-Tasman Challenge race at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Steven Johnson (Ford Mustang) converted from pole position and led through Hell Corner but slowed momentarily on Mountain Straight, dropping to sixth.

Fogg (Ford Mustang) moved into the lead ahead of Hugh Gardiner (Chevrolet Camaro), Ryal Harris (Chevrolet Camaro), Aaron Seton (Boss Mustang) and Andrew Anderson (XE Falcon).

Harris found the fence at Griffins Bend on Lap 2, limping the car off the circuit with damage.

Ryan Hansford (Holden Torana) and Anderson tangled on Lap 3, with Anderson ending up facing the wrong way at Griffins before getting back underway.

Gardiner closed up on Fogg on the final lap but was unable to make a move, Fogg winning by 0.2s at the flag.

Anderson held onto third, making it three New Zealand entries in the top three, followed by Seton and Johnson, whose Mustang appeared to be smoking on the last lap.

Adam Bressington (Chevrolet Camaro), Cameron Mason (Ford Mustang), Cameron Tilley (Valiant Pacer), John Bowe (Holden Torana) and Marcus Zukanovic (XD Falcon) completed the top 10.

Toyota 86 Racing Series

Aaron Borg beat Luke King to victory in the final race of Round 3 for the Toyota 86 Racing Series.

Borg made a clean getaway and covered off King through Hell Corner at the start before the battle for the lead intensified on Lap 2.

It became a five-car lead squabble as Ben Grice, Luke van Herwaarde and Dylan Thomas closed up.

King swept around the outside of Borg for the lead on Lap 4 as he came under attack from Grice and van Herwaarde.

Borg re-took the lead around the outside at Griffins Bend with Grice attempting to capitalise on King’s lost momentum with a move over the top of the Mountain but had to slot into third.

Thomas powered past van Herwaarde on Conrod Straight for fourth while Jaylyn Robotham followed through on Vanna.

On the final lap, Grice got by King for second and managed to hold on until the chequered flag.

Borg won by 1.5s to Grice, while King, Thomas, and Robotham completed the top five.

Series leader Tim Brook recovered to 13th after starting from the back of the grid due to a DNF in Race 2.

Invited driver Glenn Seton finished 18th while Jason Bright was a retirement.

The Toyota 86 Racing Series heads to the Sandown 500 for Round 4 from November 8-10.
