David Sieders extended his V8 Utes Racing Series lead after taking out the final heat of the Castrol Edge Townsville 400 weekend.
The Mango Credit Commodore driver made the most of his front row starting berth to complete a lights-to-flag win in the 11-lap contest.
Craig Dontas initially won the start before ducking behind Sieders on the run to the first corner.
Sieders was put under pressure for the entire race by Dontas, but the series leader held his nerve to take the win.
Race 1 winner Mason Barbera finished third after coming through a dice with Gerard McLeod, who claimed fourth ahead of Ryan Hansford.
Nathan Pretty had run fourth in the early stages before a mechanical drama saw him retire from the race along with three-time series winner Ryal Harris.
Andrew Fisher won the earlier reverse grid heat from McLeod and Hansford.
Dontas came through to claim fourth ahead of Harris, Graham Edwards and Sieders.
It proved to be an eventful race for Kim Jane who retired after making contact with Harris. Barbera also joined the non-finishers when he came to a halt on circuit at Turn 3.
Supercars co-driver Steve Owen finished Sunday’s heats ninth and eighth as he completed his one-off appearance in the category.
A round win for Sieders has seen him open up a 70 point lead over Hansford in the series standings.
The V8 Utes Racing Series will head to Mount Panorama for the next round from October 6-9.
Stadium Super Trucks
EJ Viso produced a fighting drive to win an incident filled Stadium Super Trucks finale from Matthew Brabham.
The former IndyCar driver inherited the lead in the final laps when leader Robby Gordon slowed after damaging his Matt Mingay liveried truck.
Gordon had led the race from Viso, Sheldon Creed and Brabham when the competition caution was issued halfway through the encounter.
While Gordon was out in front, Viso and Creed became locked in a battle for second spot.
The scrap had some added spice with the pair switching trucks after Viso had complained about his machinery.
The dice resulted in Creed slamming into the back of Viso at Turn 7, which allowed Brabham through to second spot.
Determined to bounce back after the contact, Viso moved back to second when he passed Brabham at the final corner, albeit with a clumsy move.
Gordon’s demise elevated Viso to the lead which he held until the chequered flag.
Brabham finished 3.2s adrift in second, while Arie Luyendyk Jr secured third ahead of a recovering Creed.
Paul Morris’ weekend ended on a low note when a mechanical failure saw him retire just prior to the competition caution.
Creed claimed the round honours from Brabham, who finished third in Race 1 and fourth in Race 2.
