The powerful Team Penske operation has confirmed that its commercial arrangement with Hitachi will be spread across its three IndyCars in 2014.
Hitachi, the Japanese electronics and engineering giant, will continue on the #3 Chevrolet of Helio Castroneves for eight of the 18 races this season starting at the St Petersburg, Florida, race from March 28-30.
The company will also serve as an associate sponsor for the #2 car to be driven by Juan Montoya and the #12 of Australian Will Power.
“One of our goals at Penske Racing is to create true, integrated global partners for our race teams,” team owner Roger Penske said.
“Hitachi has certainly represented this type of partnership with Team Penske.
“Working closely with Chevrolet on the fuel injection systems on our Indy cars, Hitachi has been instrumental in many of our race wins, but our relationship extends far beyond what you see on the racetrack.”
The association between Team Penske and Hitachi began at the start of the 2012 IndyCar season.
