Qualifying for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 looks set to be held in wet conditions after the rain many teams predicted would fall finally arrived at Mount Panorama.
Teams have begun preparing wet weather tyres for the session as conditions took a turn following Practice 5 earlier in the day.
During the lunch break at Bathurst hail fell on the top of Mount Panorama, with a wet circuit welcoming Porsche Carrera Cup Australia on track at 1340.
That continued to threaten as temperatures fell to 13 degrees at the circuit, with the skies finally opening up more fully at 1500.
With Supercars qualifying set to begin at 1600 it’s therefore expetecd the session will at least see the circuit damp.
It’s therefore almost certain the record times set by Scott McLaughlin in Pratice 5 this morning will not be bettered, while the risk factor for teams increases.
Rain is forecast to continue tomorrow, though the chance is expected to drop from 70 to 40 percent, with only one millimetre predicted.
