TeamVodafone front-row lock out at Eastern Creek

TeamVodafone

TeamVodafone’s Craig Lowndes

Craig Lowndes has trumped team-mate Jamie Whincup to take pole position for Race 19 of the V8 Supercars Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The TeamVodafone pair will start at the front of the field for this afternoon’s 220km race, continuing the team’s scintillating form.

Whincup set the benchmark on his final fast lap, only for Lowndes to beat him by 0.13s.

Team BOC’s Jason Bright will start a solid third, ahead of the Ford Performance Racing pair of title leader Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison.

The top five were all under Whincup’s record-breaking pole time from yesterday.

Jacques Villenueve will start from the tail of the field again, despite improving his qualifying time from yesterday by over 0.5s.

Race 19 of the V8 Supercars Championship will start at 1535 AEST.
