A third Hyundai i30 N TCR car is already on its way to Australia as preparations build ahead of the inaugural TCR Australia season next year.
HMO Customer Racing has purchased a third car which is currently being shipped down under from Europe to join its fleet.
While yet to announce its driver line-up for the next year’s series, the squad already sees the merit in ordering a third car to add to its operation.
The squad’s second and third cars are expected to arrive in Australia in early January.
“The cars are on the water,” team co-owner Barry Morcom told Speedcafe.com.
“We ordered two initially, we ordered chassis #35 and #36 and we airfreighted the first one.
“I think there is enough interest to sustain that already. I have been around motorsport for a long time and I see it as a great category.”
The team is expected to unveil its driver line-up early next year once sponsors have been secured.
Morcom has fielded Mostert and his son Nathan in production car races such as the Bathurst 6 Hour in the past.
He admits it was good for the team to have Mostert have a run in its car at the Sydney launch.
“The launch was great, we had not just Chaz out there we had Nathan and Garth,” he added.
“Everyone has said the car is great to drive.
“Chaz has done lots of stuff with us over the years in production cars, and as soon as he heard about this he was keen to have a pedal.
“He has seen them (TCR cars) in Europe so I guess as he has done in GT it is another category he wants to have a drive in.”
TCR Australia is due to kick off at Sydney Motorsport Park where it joins the Shannons Nationals program from May 17-19.
