Jamie Whincup, Mark Winterbottom and Shane van Gisbergen have been each penalised 25 points for their part in the restart chaos at Hidden Valley Raceway yesterday.
The Independant Prosecuting Officer has deemed that Whincup (TeamVodafone) gained an unfair advantage by hitting the back of Winterbottom's Falcon as the field turned onto the front straight at the restart.
Winterbottom (Orrcon Steel FPR) was penalised 25 points for collecting the back on Whincup at Turn 1, and van Gisbergen (SP Tools Racing) copped his penalty for passing Whincup before the control line.
V8 Supercar's Independant Officier Peter Wollerman said that
“They were just racing,” Wollerman told Speedcafe.com.
“All of them accepted the penalty and took the 25 points.”
Michael Caruso (Fujitsu Racing) has also been penalised 25 points for careless driving on Paul Dumbrell (The Bottle-O Racing), four laps at the end of the race.
The only other matter to be resolved is Dumbrell for short-cutting the course on the first lap of the race.
