FIA president Jean Todt says that the 2012 Formula One calendar will be 20 races, despite 21 races being allocated on the provisional calendar.
Todt says there is “absolutely” no chance of 21 races, with 20 races already being a record number for a Formula One season.
“Absolutely not,” Todt told Diario Sport when asked if there would be 21 races in 2012.
“There are 21 dates, but the championship will be 20 grands prix.”
The World Motor Sport Council revealed the 21 event calendar last week, with the Turkish Grand Prix appearing with a ‘subject to confirmation’ tag.
Todt reaffirmed that he was not clear which event would be dropped to form the 20 race calendar.
“We don’t know which one will go, but the championship will be 20 races,” he said.
