Triple Eight has established the cause of the pedal box issue which hamstrung Shane van Gisbergen in Sunday’s race at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint.
Van Gisbergen began to struggle particularly in the middle stint of the race to stop the #97 Red Bull Holden Racing Team Commodore due to throttle over-run.
It was established during the race that the problem related to a mispositioned balance bar, which had also caused the brake bias to wind to the rear.
A team spokesperson has since confirmed to Speedcafe.com that the issue was ultimately caused by a loose cable within the pedal box.
Van Gisbergen nursed the car to the chequered flag in 25th position, one lap behind race winning team-mate Craig Lowndes.
The result saw him fall to fifth in the championship and cede the lead to another team-mate, Jamie Whincup, who he now trails by 40 points.
Lowndes’ drought-breaking win has him sixth on the ladder heading to the WD-40 Phillip Island 500 on April 20-22.
