Three drivers have been given points penalties following an action-packed pair of V8 Supercars races at Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday.

James Moffat has been hit with a 35 point reduction after his contact with David Reynolds on the opening lap of Race 26.

A touch from the Nissan turned around Reynolds’ Falcon, which was subsequently collected by Tim Slade, putting the Holden out of the weekend.

The severity of the penalty comes due to prior convictions for Moffat this season.

He drops from 14th to 16th in the standings as a result, losing places to Scott Pye and Rick Kelly.

Holden drivers Garth Tander and Russell Ingall were meanwhile hit with 25 point penalties following contact with Todd Kelly and Nick Percat respectively in Race 27.

After being overtaken by Kelly into Turn 1, Tander had been attempting a switch-back when the two made contact, sending both into the grass and the Holden Racing Team entry out of the race completely.

Ingall later turned Nick Percat around at Turn 5 while the pair battled for 11th place.

The Walkinshaw Racing driver finished 20th, the last on the lead lap, as a result.

Percat in turn received a 30 second addition to his race time for passing Michael Caruso under yellow flags earlier in the race.

Coincidentally, Ingall’s penalty sees him drop one place in the championship standings, falling one position behind Percat to 19th.

Volvo Polestar Racing’s horror day was meanwhile completed by a $10,000 fine, half of which is suspended until the end of the calendar year, for a wheel parting company with Scott McLaughlin’s entry on the circuit during Race 27.

The squad has also been penalised 50 Teams’ Championship points.

The incident occurred after the team rushed an engine change to get McLaughlin to the grid.
