Four V8 Supercars Championship teams have completed final track tests this week ahead of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Brad Jones Racing and Tony D’Alberto Racing shared Victoria’s Winton Motor Raceway on Wednesday, while Red Bull Racing Australia and its customer Tekno Autosports outfit ran at Queensland Raceway on Thursday.
The Queensland test was hit by hot weather, with nearby Ipswich recording an ambient maximum of 34 degrees during the day.
“It turned into a test for the new Alice Springs 500 because it was so hot,” Red Bull team owner Roland Dane told Speedcafe.com.
“It was the hottest test day we’ve ever had there, but it didn’t matter too much to us.
“The focus of what we were doing was running in of components and doing pitstop preparation for Bathurst.”
Tekno undertook a similar program, although did so without its international co-drivers Marc Lieb and Jeroen Bleekemolen.
A two-day test for the Triple Eight-prepared Xbox One wildcard entry of DTM drivers Mattias Ekstrom and Andy Priaulx is scheduled for next week.
The month of October is unlikely to see any additional private running with a tight turnaround between the October 11-13 Bathurst 1000 and the Gold Coast 600 two weeks later.
