Jamie Veal claimed his maiden World Series Sprintcars title after finishing second behind Steven Lines in Saturday's Grand Final at Perth Motorplex.
The Warrnambool driver headed into the season finale eight points behind Brooke Tatnell but managed overhaul the nine-time champion's lead with a pressure-filled drive to second.
Veal's World Series Sprintcars title win arrives in the same season as his Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic victory.
The feat places him alongside the sport's biggest names with Tatnell, Max Dumesny and Skip Jackson the only racers to achieve “The Double.”
While Veal celebrated his maiden World Series Sprintcars title, Lines produced a measured drive to take the win in the Grand Final after taking the lead on lap 15 with a move on Dan Harding.
As a result of the pass Harding quickly found himself under pressure from Veal, Kyle Hirst and Brad Maiolo.
The trio soon found a way by the Western Australian but were unable to stop Lines from taking the victory.
Hirst settled for third behind new champion Veal, with Maiolo fourth and Harding fifth.
Title contender Tatnell endured a difficult night with the sprintcar ace taking the flag in eighth behind Dave Murcott and Kerry Madsen.
