Formula 4 front-runner Brenton Grove has escaped a high speed accident during qualifying for the second round of the season at Phillip Island.
The teenager ran wide at Lukey Heights before spinning and making heavy contact with the outside tyre wall early in the session.
“It’s really unfortunate what happened,” Grove said.
“I guess it’s the good and bad of motor sport really.
“You take the ups and you take the downs, so unfortunately the boys have got a bit of work to do tonight but we’ll come back tomorrow stronger than ever and have a crack.”
Grove will start at the back of the nine-car field tomorrow following a qualifying session that was topped by Nick Rowe.
