A number of race cars and support vehicles from the failed Aussie Driver Search (ADS) program have been put to auction.
A total of 20 lots are listed on the website of Slattery Auctions Australia, including the GT3-specification Audi R8 with a starting bid of $250,000.
All other lots have been listed with a starting bid of $5000, including two Holden Commodore and two Ford Falcon V8 Utes.
Aussie Driver Search placed itself in ‘voluntary liquidation’ in May, bringing to an end an extravagant series of talent search programs on offer to paying entrants.
The Audi was the car prepared by Matt Stone Racing (MSR) for this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour, an arrangement which was at the centre of allegations and counter-allegations made by the two parties when the administration of ADS was announced.
MSR was also to have run a car for competition winner Matt Powers in this year’s Dunlop Super2 Series, which was scaled back to a Super3 drive prior to the start of the season.
The American was only able to complete one round of Super3 before ADS collapsed.
The previous-generation FG Falcon V8 Supercar which ADS entered for two rounds of Super3, including when ADS founder Kyle Austin drove in the non-points round on the Gold Coast last year, is not part of the auction.
ADS’s prime mover, transporter, and other car trailers are part of the auction.
