
Lago Racing’s all-Australian Lamborghini entry has made a strong start to its campaign at the 24 Hours of Spa, topping the Bronze test session.
Introduced for the first time last year, the three-hour hit-out provides additional track time for Bronze rated drivers and Silver rated Spa rookies.
The Lamborghini that Roger Lago will share with rookie Jonathon Webb and regular co-drivers Steve Owen and David Russell ended up on top with a 2:21.85s best.
The fastest time was set by Russell, who was eligible due to missing the official pre-event test earlier this month.
It marks a perfect start to the team’s return to the race after a Carrera Cup crash in Townsville saw Lago withdraw his entry last year.
Lago is leasing a Reiter Engineering Gallardo RE-X for this year’s event, rather than bringing his own car.
The car’s time on Tuesday was 0.4s clear of the second placed #53 AF Corse Ferrari, while the #666 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Hurracan completed the top three.
A total of 36 cars from the 65 entered for the race posted times.
The full field will be on track for the first official practice session on Thursday.
