The Aussie Racing Cars series will headline Baskerville Raceway’s 60th anniversary celebrations as part of its seven-round 2018 calendar.
While five of the seven rounds will be run on the Supercars support card, the series will begin with the trip to Tasmania in late-February, the same month in which Baskerville Raceway opened in 1958.
The visit will be Aussie Racing Cars’ first to the Hobart circuit since 2006, but it has run at Symmons Plains, near Launceston, seven times in the intervening period.
The series will also run as a support category at the first ever Virgin Australia Supercars Championship event at The Bend Motorsport Park in late-August.
A return to Phillip Island for Round 2 in April will see Aussie Racing Cars in high-downforce trim for the first time since last running at the picturesque Victorian circuit in 2016.
Round 3 is at Winton and Round 4 at Queensland Raceway, before The Bend hosts Round 5.
The penultimate round takes place with Shannons Nationals at Sydney Motorsport Park, marking only the first repeat circuit from the 2017 calendar.
The second of those will be the finale at the Gold Coast 600.
Category manager Brad Ward said that he was pleased with how the 2018 Aussie Racing Cars calendar had turned out.
“We’re very excited to be able to share in two significant moments next year, the first as the main drawcard when Baskerville Raceway celebrates its 60th anniversary, and the second being a part of Supercars’ historic first Tailem Bend round,” said Ward.
“This year was another thrilling series and we have no reason to believe that 2018 will be any different with the new challenges on offer.”
James Duckworth clinched back-to-back titles in Newcastle last weekend.
