Bathurst’s ‘race’ lap record is not in the possession of Formula 3 after today’s first race today.
F3, competing at Mount Panorama for the first time, believed that the ‘race’ lap record was that set by Allan Simonsen in his Ferrari 458 GT3 at this year’s Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour.
In today’s first race, won by Jordan Skinner, title leader James Winslow set a 2m05.3052s, over a second faster than the time set by Simonsen.
However, the F3 association was instructed by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport to stop making reference to that lap as the fastest. CAMS has listed the official lap record as the lap that Simonsen set in the same Ferrari during ‘Drive Bathurst’ in November last year.
Drive Bathurst is a Super Sprint event that has been used in recent years as a testing ground for Bathurst 12 Hour teams.

Simonsen’s November lap is a 2m04.9560s.
F3 gets two more chances to beat the Ferrari’s time, with two races scheduled for tomorrow.
While Winslow’s non-record was the talking point, Skinner’s victory can’t go over-looked. It is his first win in the class and a huge boost ahead of tomorrow’s two races.
Carrera Cup young-gun Nick Foster finished in third place, ahead of reigning category champion Chris Gilmour and Adrian Cottrell.
Both Steel Guiliana and John Magro failed to finish the race due to mechanical issues.
F3 is competing at Mount Panorama as part of the Bathurst Motor Festival.
