Factory Yamaha rider Ben Spies and Moto2 front-runner Andrea Iannone will join Pramac Racing’s satellite Ducati squad for the 2013 MotoGP World Championship.
Spies has endured a troubled third season in the premier class of Grand Prix racing this year, confirming his impending departure from Yamaha in July.
The news ensures that Pramac will return to running two bikes in 2013 after campaigning a single entry for Spaniard Hector Barbera this season.
A Ducati statement said that the development “reaffirms its confidence in and commitment to the MotoGP World Championship.”
The Italian marque’s assault on next year’s title will be led by factory riders Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso, with the latter drafted in to replace the Yamaha-bound Valentino Rossi.
The 2012 season continues this weekend with the Grand Prix of San Marino at Misano, where Barbera will return to the Pramac ride after missing three races with a broken leg.
