Dutch driver Jeroen Bleekemolen is keen to put himself in the frame to drive for the newly formed Erebus Motorsport/Stone Brothers Racing team which will field a pair of E63-bodied AMGs in the V8 Supercar Championship Series next year.
Bleekemolen drove the SLS AMG GT3 for Erebus when he finished second in the Bathurst 12-hour earlier this year and is keen to seek a drive in the V8 series.
The accomplished sports car driver and former A1 Grand Prix ace spent time in the SBR bunker at the Bathurst 1000 last weekend and will race with Shane van Gisbergen at the Armor All Gold Coast 600.
The 2008/2009 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion was at Bathurst principally to compete in the Carrera Cup races and perform demonstration laps in the RS Spyder, a similar car which supplied him with victory in the LMP2 class at the 2008 Le Mans 24-hour race.
Bleekemolen said he had not yet been approached to do the Bathurst 1000 for the Erebus/SBR alliance but is excited at the possibility of competing in Australia’s Great Race.
“I would like to do it,” Bleekemolen told Speedcafe.com
“I’m really amazed by the racing. They race hard but still remain fair and it’s just great.
“I would like to race more at Bathurst and who knows? Maybe there will be something for me here that comes up”?
Bleekemolen would only say that had discussed a few elements with Erebus Motorsport, however wouldn’t be drawn on specific details.
“And it is just a coincidence that I have raced for both Erebus and I’m with SBR for Surfers Paradise in a couple of weeks. But maybe this will be a good thing for me as the future unfolds.”
