Champion driver John Bowe completed a lights-to-flag victory in the opening Touring Car Masters race of Round Four at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Andrew Miedecke looked set to threaten for the lead when he put in some fast laps during the midpoint of the race, but it was the Pro Master class leader who eventually ran away with it in his Dunlop Super Dealers Mustang.

Greg Crick, in his first race back after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning, was a highly commendable third place after blazing past Jim Richards on Brabham Straight on lap seven, the front-runners having run line astern until that point.

Richards eventually faded to seventh place as he managed a sticking throttle, behind Keith Kassulke, Mark King, and Tony Karanfilovski,

King and Kassulke provided the best of the entertainment in a race which was surprisingly sedate despite rain sprinkling throughout.

The former barged past Kassulke around Corporate Hill, before immediately handing back what was fifth place when he ran wide at the hairpin.

Bill Pye, Les Walmsley, and Jason Gomersall rounded out the top ten, while V8 Utes racer Andrew Fisher dropped to 19th on debut after his Ford Falcon GT experienced problems late in the race.

Races two and three will be held on Sunday at 0830 and 1425 respectively.
