Bridgestone will make its new asymmetric front slick tyre available to MotoGP teams for both the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island and the season finale in Valencia.
The Japanese giant tested the new tyre in the post Czech Republic Grand Prix test at Brno on Monday which provided the manufacturer with encouraging results.
As a result, Bridgestone will offer the new tyre to teams for the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island on October 19 followed by the Grand Prix of Valencia on November 9.
The tyre is designed to improve safety levels for the riders according to Bridgestone motorcycle tyre boss Shinji Aoki.
“We offered our new asymmetric front slick to all riders to evaluate at Brno and some riders took the opportunity to test these and provide us with feedback,” said Aoki.
“Overall, the reaction to this tyre is that it will work very well at circuits like Phillip Island which have a big difference in the number of right and left corners.”
“We will be bringing this new front slick to the Phillip Island and Valencia rounds this year as part of our tyre allocation, which we feel will improve safety levels for the riders to an even higher level.”
MotoGP heads to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix next week.
