Bundaberg Red Rum has committed to its second year of title sponsorship with Walkinshaw Racing for next season.
The famous Queensland rum company signed a one-year deal with WR for the 2009 season with an option to continue in 2010. That option was recently taken up.
It will see the Bundaberg Red brand stay on the #24 Commodore VE, driven this year by V8 Supercar series rookie David Reynolds.
Reynolds is yet to be confirmed as the driver of the Bundaberg Red car for next year, although WR CEO Craig Wilson told Speedcafe that he has been pleased with Reynolds’s progress so far.
“It was unfortunate that he had an electrical problem in the final race at Surfers Paradise. It would have been his best result of the year,” Wilson said.
“David’s definitely in the mix to keep his spot. He’s doing a good job. We’ve worked with him for a few years now. He hasn’t been completely new to us – we’ve been working with him for a while.”
Reynolds is a former Australian Formula Ford and Carrera Cup champion, winning those crowns in 2004 and 2007 respectively. He currently sits 22nd in the V8 Supercar Championship Series points.
