Chaz Mostert will start Sunday’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 from the rear of the field after being penalised for an infringement in qualifying.
Mostert was found guilty of passing under red flag conditions in the session, where he ended up 14th fastest.
The 22-year-old overtook Russell Ingall’s LDM Holden, which had slowed abruptly on Mountain Straight.
The Ford Performance Racing driver was subsequently excluded from the results and handed a $5,000 fine; $3,000 of which is suspended.
The penalty compounds a mixed day for FPR, which also has its #55 David Reynolds/Dean Canto Falcon starting from the back following a heavy qualifying crash.
Jamie Whincup’s qualifying crash ensures that three of the championship’s top 10 runners will be at the back of the field for the season’s biggest race.
