Matt Campbell has had his hopes at the latest round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at the Hungaroring end on the warm-up lap when he suffered a clutch issue.
Set to start from fifth on the grid, Campbell chose to come through the pitlane and effectively start at the rear of the 30-car field.
He was able to make it up to 19th place by the finish and easily set lap times inside the top-three of the race.
“I could drive without the clutch, but of course it was frustrating to lag behind the rest of the field,” said Campbell.
Up front it was again championship leader Michael Ammermueller (Germany) who took the race win after fighting his way past Lechner team-mate Dan Cammish (UK) before another Lechner car in the hands of Dennis Olsen (Norway) moved up to second.
The victory for Ammermueller was the fourth from the six rounds contested. Campbell (Austria) and Olsen (Great Britain) were the only other race winners so far this season.
Next up on the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup calendar is the double-header event in Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps. Races seven and eight will be contested from 25-27 August on the 7.004-kilometre-long rollercoaster in the Ardennes.
