Polished driver Craig Baird generated some factory interest from Asian and European GT connections in the wake of his resounding Sepang 12 Hour victory.
The talented and versatile Baird is keen to follow up on interest he fielded for GT drives in the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series in Europe as well as Japanese and Asian GT possibilities.
Baird produced a come-from-behind-drive to land the Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race by six-laps from the Australian Lamborghini LP560-4 entry of Roger Lago, David Russell and Peter Kox.
“I’ve had a few approaches not only from Japan but from Europe. So now I have to work away and get my Blancpain seeding,” Baird told Speedcafe.com
“I think I’d only be seeded as silver because the only things I’ve ever really won is national-based championships and not international championships.
“So hopefully there is a bit of a career path for silver drivers because they are hard to find. A lot of silver drivers don’t have the experience. If they want to drive with Platinum and Gold they have to grab silver and bronze style drivers.”

Baird cautioned that the interest was only verbal at this stage and hoped that something more concrete will follow.
“I had a few people speak to me after the race and people who want to utilise me in Asian, Japan and some stuff in Europe.
“It would be nice if something comes out of it.
“I think we proved at Bathurst, in a GT (Clearwater Racing Ferrari) car we are as quick as anyone in the 12 Hour earlier this year and the same at Sepang.
“The good thing about those races is there are a lot of factory guys watching and they have got plenty of time to absorb it.”
Baird, who at 43 remains in top shape, showed some highly decorated drivers up in the demanding Malaysian endurance race.
