Greg Crick scored a Touring Car Masters race victory at Sandown in just his second appearance since returning from illness.
The Tasmanian, who missed the opening part of the season after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning at the Bathurst 12 Hour, took out the reverse top 10 grid second race.
Crick finished ninth in the opener and capitalised on early trouble for pole-sitter Les Walmsley’s Holden Monaro to assume the ascendancy in the second encounter.
Eventually greeting the chequered flag a second clear of Kim Jane’s Ford Falcon, Crick’s win marked the first for a Chrysler in the history of the TCM.
Holden Torana driver Jason Gomersall completed the top three, marking a rare podium sweep for Australian-built cars in a series traditionally dominated by American equipment.
Points leader John Bowe won the morning’s opening race from pole position before driving through to fourth in the second heat.
Series stars Andrew Miedecke and Jim Richards followed Bowe home in Race 1, with Keith Kassulke and Jane completing the top five.
A third race will complete the Rare Spares Sandown Cup on Sunday.
