The Czech Republic Grand Prix has signed a new deal to remain on the MotoGP calendar for the next five years.
MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports confirmed a new agreement prior to Sunday’s race which will see the Moravian government and the city of Brno form a new body to act as event promoters.
The Brno circuit has hosted the Czech Republic Grand Prix since 1993 with the first running of the event held in 1965 on the original 13.9km layout.
“The Czech GP is one of the highlights of the Championship as it’s been on the calendar for 50 years and as we see this weekend again, it’s a very popular event,” said Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.
“We are very happy to reach an agreement with the Czech authorities that will ensure the future of the Grand Prix in the Czech Republic for at least the next five years.”
MotoGP is yet to reveal its 2016 draft calendar which will feature a new event following confirmation of Austria’s return to the championship at the Red Bull Ring.
