The two-time Dakar bikes winner has been focussed on a four-wheel transition in recent years that has included winning the Baja 500 last year and making his cars debut at Dakar this year in a privateer Toyota.

That four-wheel Dakar debut in January ended in heartbreak after navigator Sam Sutherland suffered a concussion after hitting his head on the sixth stage.

Price will now take the next step by joining the Toyota Gazoo Racing W2RC squad for next year’s Dakar.

He will team up with navigator Armand Monleón as part of a three-strong line-up of the all-new DKR GR Hilux that will also include Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings and Seth Quintero and Andrew Short.

“This is one of those pinch-yourself moments in my motorsport career,” said Price.

“Dakar at this level is something only a very small group of people get to experience, and I’m extremely grateful to Toyota, Red Bull, Peter Kittle Motor Company, and all our partners for making it happen.

“I’m really looking forward to heading back to Dakar for redemption after how our debut ended last year.

“Letting our partners down and seeing Sam suffer a concussion was tough, but it’s only added to my motivation.

“Teaming up with Armand is incredible. He brings so much experience, and I truly believe we’re in a great position to take it to the Dakar greats.”

The 2026 Dakar Rally will take place in Saudi Arabia on January 3-17.
