Sieders Racing has moved to purchase the first of the new light truck based V8 Utes ahead of the 2016 season.
The Sieders outfit is the first to lay down a deposit for one of 10 that are expecting to be built in time for their debut at next year’s Clipsal 500.
The new and old generation machinery will run together next year before the transition is completed in 2017.
Team owner Luke Sieders is buoyant ahead of the biggest technical upheaval in the history of the Ute series.
“I’m excited about the direction the category is going, you need to grab it with both hands and run with it, or wave a white flag and let go,” Sieders said.
“I was keen to get our name down and show commitment, and in the long term we will be one of the most prepared teams moving forward with the new platform.”
The new platform is currently being designed by Oscar Fiorinotto’s Australian Race Engineering business in Adelaide.
The first of the new generation Utes is slated for an unveiling at the Sandown 500 meeting in September.
