Chip Ganassi Racing has retained the services of Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan for the 2015 IndyCar season.

The American IndyCar giant has confirmed Dixon will stay with the squad for a 14th season and will remain behind the wheel of a Target backed #9 entry.

The New Zealander, who has claimed three IndyCar titles in 2003, 2008, 2013 alongside a Indy 500 win in 2008, finished third in the standings this season.

“Although we finished 2014 strong, we didn’t have the year we wanted to, at least not by our standards,” said Dixon.

“I know the Target team is focused and ready to go for 2015, and I’m honored to be back driving the No. 9 again for the team.

“It’s really hard to believe this is my 14th year with Target Chip Ganassi Racing – it seems like only yesterday I was making my first start for them way back in 2002.”

Having now settled into the team since his move from KV Racing, experienced Brazilian Kanaan is targeting a much more consistent challenge for the IndyCar title next season.

Kanaan finished seventh overall in his first year with Ganassi tasting victory just once at the Fontana season finale.

NTT DATA will replace the Target sponsorship on his #10 entry for next season.

“I know and have worked with them before so this will be great,” said Kanaan.

“As for the team, we really started to come together at the end of last season and although we ended on a high note with the win in Fontana, I think we had a legitimate chance to win a few more times.

“We have a year under our belt working together now and I expect to be contending more consistently in 2015.”

At this stage the future of Australian Ryan Briscoe, who campaigned a third car for the team this season, remains unclear.

The team, which also ran Charlie Kimball this year, is set to confirm its remaining entries shortly.
