Dunlop Series outfit Dragon Motor Racing has confirmed that it will lodge an application for a wildcard entry into this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup.
Following Speedcafe.com’s story on the team’s plans last week, Dragon announced via social media that it will submit a wildcard proposal to V8 Supercars.
The outfit recently purchased the two Holden Commodore VFs campaigned by Garry Rogers Motorsport in last year’s V8 Supercars Championship and has been working with the now factory Volvo squad on formulating a plan to field a wildcard.
“Dragon Motor Racing after many weeks of business planning have decided to lodge an application for a wildcard for the Pirtek Enduro Cup,” wrote Dragon owner Tony Klein on Dragon’s Facebook page.
“Both our COTF cars achieved top 10 results last year in the enduro races, so with our new engines and a bit of DMR team enthusiasm we hope to achieve a similar or better result this year.”
Although a single-car Bathurst entry is the team’s most likely target, Klein is not ruling out appearances in the other Enduro Cup races at Sandown and the Gold Coast.
The team is currently attempting to recruit staff for its planned wildcard, while Rogers told Speedcafe.com that his outfit can provide manpower and other resources to the program if required.
Dragon has made just one start in the Dunlop Series with driver Tim Macrow, but plans to add a second car for Kristian Lindbom from Round 5 of the season at Queensland Raceway in August.
