A driver is in a stable condition in hospital after a violent crash during a Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America race at Laguna Seca.
American driver Sheena Monk was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Centre after she appeared to suffer a brake failure entering the infamous corkscrew during a support race at the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round.
The car was unable to make the corner and subsequently made a heavy frontal impact with the barriers, resulting in the Lamborghini flipping before coming to rest on its wheels.
Officials immediately red flagged to the race to allow medical crews to attend to the driver.
IMSA has confirmed that Monk was alert and awake after being extricated from the car and is under evaluation in hospital.
