Entry list confirms 30 car Dunlop Series grid

Matt Stone Racing

Matt Stone Racing’s Ash Walsh will start as one of the favourites for the title

A 30 car field is set to battle out the opening round of the Dunlop Series on the streets of Adelaide this weekend.

The previously confirmed single-car Ford Performance Racing entry of Cameron Waters headlines the list, with the factory team returning after a one-year absence.

The season promises to be a battle between FPR, existing three-car heavyweights MW Motorsport, Matt Stone Racing and Eggleston Motorsport, and two-car outfits Brad Jones Racing and Image Racing.

The MW, MSR and Eggleston line-ups are led by Andre Heimgartner, Ash Walsh and Paul Dumbrell respectively, while Erebus Academy driver Jack Le Brocq sees Image expand to a two-car team this year.

The Adelaide entry list confirms the return of former Finance Ezi Racing driver Josh Hunter, who joins Aaron Tebb and Swede Fredrik Lestrup in RSport’s three-car line-up.

Finance Ezi and Sonic Motor Racing Services are both missing from this year’s grid having moved to the Carrera Cup, while others absent include Triple Eight (which last year fielded Casey Stoner) and Minda Motorsport.

The previously Hunter driven, Triple Eight-built Falcon, will now be campaigned by Paul Morris, who had previously run a Holden leased from Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport.

South Australian Kumho V8 Touring Car Series outfit THR Motorsport has stepped up to the Dunlop Series this year and will field local drivers Jordan Ormsby and Jay Verdnik in its ex-Kelly Racing Holdens in Adelaide.

Others coming from the Kumho Series include single-car efforts from Dan Day (ex-Percat Walkinshaw Holden) and Josh Kean (ex-Courtney Walkinshaw Holden).

Geoff Emery (ex-Lowndes Triple Eight Holden), Jim Pollicina (ex-D’Alberto FPR Falcon) and Matt Hansen have meanwhile joined forces (ex-Pye Triple Eight Holden) under a new banner, GMJ Motorsport.

Gallagher Motorsport’s ex-Nandi Kiss PWR Holden is on the official entry list for Adelaide but is not expected to be seen until the second round at Winton in April.
