As many as 14 ex-V8 Supercars are expected to front for a new support category at the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour next February.
Largely made up of Kumho V8 Touring Car competitors, the V8s will join a Combined Sedans class that has featured at the Bathurst Motor Festival in recent years.
A 55 car field will also include top level Sports Sedans and cars from state-based classes including Vic V8s and the Queensland Touring Car Championship.
“The response to the category has been very encouraging and we’ve already got a full grid of 55 cars confirmed,” said racer and category administrator Steve Lacey.
“We will have a full field of very competitive cars on the grid and the support from all parties, including CAMS and the Bathurst 12 Hour organisers, has been fantastic.”
V8 Supercars recently took over the promotion of the Bathurst event from founder James O’Brien.
The Radical Australia Cup and Improved Production classes have been confirmed to return to the mountain next February, while Formula Ford 1600 has dropped off the schedule.
