Outgoing KTM MotoGP pilot and future Aprilia test rider Bradley Smith will also race in the all-electric MotoE series next year.

The 27-year-old will ride for One Energy Racing, which is run by the SIC Racing Team in partnership with Matteo Ballarin, the founder/chairman of Europe Energy Group.

Smith is set to leave Red Bull KTM after two seasons and will combine testing duties at Aprilia with the inaugural MotoE campaign in 2019.

“This is a completely new chapter in the motorcycling world and I am very excited to be a part of MotoE,” said the Brit.

“One Energy and I have a big task at hand to learn and adapt to this new technology, but I am confident we are ready for the challenge.”

Team Director Johan Stigefelt added, “It will be a new challenge to enter into the MotoE World Championship. No one knows how this will turn out and to be part of it from the very beginning is very exciting.

“To have signed with Bradley is great for us. He is a rider and person with huge experience at the highest level and we expect him to do well.”

Smith is not the only current MotoGP racer to sign on for a MotoE ride, with Xavier Simeon having already been announced at Esponsorama Racing.

MotoE testing will start at Jerez later this month while the first of five races in 2019 will take place at the same circuit in early May.
