Josh Fife expects to be comfortable with his new Nissan Altima ride come lights out in Round 1 of the Dunlop Super2 Series after two days of testing at Winton.
Fife is one of a number of notable movers within the Super2 class in the off-season, switching from Brad Jones Racing and a VF Commodore to the MW Motorsport outfit.
The Canberran undertook an evaluation with MWM late last year, also at Winton, and completed two days of testing earlier this week.
He is steering the chassis which Bryce Fullwood and then Thomas Randle took to the last two Super2 titles and, while admitting he has taken time to become accustomed to the Altima, believes that will not be a drama when racing kicks off at Mount Panorama later this month.
“It took me a little bit to get used to; [it is] a bit different to the VF Commodore,” Fife told Speedcafe.com.
“But, I'm getting my head around it and I think, hopefully by Bathurst, by the race time, I should be very comfortable.
“They have strengths in different areas compared to the VF, but they're good to drive.
“Also, they [MWM] do a very good job, which makes me feel comfortable in the car.”
Fife will count MWM incumbent Jayden Ojeda, returnee Tyler Everingham, and Super2 debutant Declan Fraser as team-mates in 2021.
That means the 20-year-old, who was BJR's sole Super2 driver in his rookie season last year, now shares a stable with last year's top rookie (Ojeda) and the 2019 Mike Kable Young Gun Award winner (Everingham).
“[The test] was really good,” said Fife of their two days of running together at Winton.
“The team have been really good, it's a really good environment, and it's great having the three other team-mates.
“We're learning off each other, we're all pushing each other, so that was really cool, and we're trying to all move forward with the one goal.”
On his expectations, the two-time Super3 race winner said, “I think it's looking like a good field, so I'd love to be battling for podiums and wins, so that's my goal.”
Round 1 of Super2 supports the Repco Mount Panorama 500 on February 26-28.
