West Australian team Triple F Racing has secured the services of Michael Patrizi for this year’s V8 Supercar endurance races at Phillip Island and Bathurst.
Patrizi drove for Wilson Security Racing last season, but when the team folded at the conclusion of the year, Patrizi was left without a drive.
Both team owner and driver Dean Fiore and Patrizi hail from West Australia and enjoy a strong relationship – on and off track. Fiore was actually Patrizi’s best man at his recent wedding …
Fiore, who will drive the #12 Ford Falcon FG in this year’s V8 Championship, said that he’s glad to have an experienced hand with him for the L&H 500 and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
“I am stoked to sign Michael as my enduro team-mate,” he said.
“He’s been a mate for ages and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team for the endurance races later this year.”
Patrizi drove the Queensland-based team’s Falcon at the official test day at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday and is glad to have his deal locked away.
“I am honoured to be joining Triple F Racing for the enduros and test days throughout the year,” he said.
“To be given the opportunity to race with my best mate has been a dream since we were young tackers racing go karts in Kalgoorlie. I think via the partnership of Dean and I, it gives WA the strongest pairing for Bathurst. Having raced at Bathurst for the past two years, I believe I will also bring experience to the team.”
The first of the endurance races will be at the L&H 500, Phillip Island (September 10-12) before the big one – the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 (October 7-10).
