Cameron Waters has revealed the look of the Mygale that he will make his Formula 3 debut in at Hidden Valley Raceway this weekend.
The reigning Formula Ford champion and current V8 Development Series driver will compete in a striking orange and black livery with sponsorship from Linde Materials Handling and Simworx Race Simulators in the City of Darwin Cup.
G-Force Event Management, FabRaications and Arrow Karts will also feature on the car.
The deal to drive the new Mygale M07 Mercedes, owned by Australian Mygale importer Greg Woodrow, is a one-off.
Woodrow said that expectations are low, given the preparation, but they will use their findings to sort its plans for next year.
“It’s just a small step at this stage but we’re looking forward to challenging in a different championship,” Woodrow said.
“The car only turned its first laps a couple of weeks ago and Cam has had very limited seat time so we’re not expecting to challenge the frontrunners.
“But we will use this weekend to help formulate our plans for F3 in Australia in 2013 and beyond.
“Mygale are making a big push into F3 worldwide, they won a round of the Italian championship a couple of weeks.
“To win a round in Dallara’s backyard is a massive achievement for them so the cars are definitely quick enough to be winners when we get some development miles on them.”
In other pre-City of Darwin Cup news, reigning Victorian Formula Ford champion Lochie Marshall will finally make his F3 debut, having recovered from a pre-season training incident. Marshall, who suffered a broken wrist, will drive the ex-Tim Macrow Dallara F304 and will compete in the remaining rounds of this year’s title.
Bathurst lap record holder and F3 title contender Chris Gilmour will debut a new engine this weekend, while Jordan Skinner enters the Hidden Valley event full of confidence after a successful test at Mallala.
A total of 12 cars have entered the round, supporting V8 Supercars’ Skycity Triple Crown. Other support categories include the Auto One V8 Utes and Touring Car Masters.
