Nick Foster has continued his recent good run with victory in the opening race of the Carrera Cup in Townsville.
After starting fourth Foster was straight into the mix moving to second behind pole sitter David Russell after moving ahead of Duvashen Padayachee. Over the following 10 laps Foster and Russell had a great battle.
On lap #13 of #20 Foster came out in front after a side-by-side duel with Russell, who ran wide and slipped back to third behind Richaesrd Muscat.
After sitting second on the opening lap, Padayachee slipped back to ninth at the finish as Carrera Cup legends Craig Baird and Steve Richards moved up the order to fifth and six respectively behind Matt Campbell.
No such dramas for Foster who came home with a comfortable victory in the end.
In the Tag Heuer Carrera Challenge for the semi-professional racers, points leader Shane Smollen took the win from defending champion Stephen Grove.
A tough outing for Tony Bates and failed to finish after colliding with Adrian Mastronado.
The second race of the Carrera Cup will be run tomorrow morning at 8.30am.
