Subscription television service Fox Sports is set to axe its dedicated motorsport channel, Speed TV Australia, amid a rejig of its line-up.

Speed TV and action sports channel Fuel TV will both be cut on November 3, coinciding with the introduction of Fox Sports 4 and 5.

A Fox Sports spokesman confirmed to Speedcafe.com that “all properties” from the existing channels will be transferred as part of the shuffle.

However, details of where the motorsport programming, which will include 1300 hours of live broadcasts, will fall across the five channels has yet to be determined.

Speed TV Australia was launched in November, 2010, and currently boasts live rights to categories including MotoGP, NASCAR Sprint Cup, IndyCar, the World Endurance Championship and GP2.

Its demise follows a similar move from Fox in the United States, which discontinued Speed last August, merging content into Fox Sports 1.

The shuffle comes ahead of Fox’s new-for-2015 media rights deal with V8 Supercars, which had notably omitted the Speed TV moniker from its announcement last December.

As previously announced, Fox Sports’ V8 Supercars coverage will include every session live, as well as additional magazine-style programs.

Fox is yet to confirm its line-up of on-air talent, although it is expected to be headed by current category commentator Neil Crompton and Network Ten stalwart Greg Rust.

Ten recently announced that its mix of live and delayed V8 Supercars broadcasts, which are set to utilise Fox’s commentary team, will be fronted by Matthew White.
