What a day!
Not since 1977 have we seen two team cars finish in a form-finish at Mt Panorama who were on the same lap.
Like those images of Allan Moffat and Colin Bond in their XC Falcons 33 years ago, today’s 1-2 punch from Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup will become a part of Australian motorsport folklore.
For Lowndes and his teammate Mark Skaife it was an extra special result with the pair sharing the famous Peter Brock trophy for the first time – 10 years after they teamed-up at Bathurst unsuccessfully.
It was Skaife’s sixth victory and Lowndes’ fifth and a fourth in five years for Triple Eight Race Engineering and TeamVodafone.
