19-year-old Porsche Carrera Cup Australia front-runner Dylan O’Keeffe will be joined by experienced national-level racer Adam Gowans for the Carrera Cup Pro-Am Enduro at Phillip Island next weekend.
Gowans has credentials in all different types of racing cars. He won the national Aussie Racing Car title in 2009, and competed in the Toyota 86 Racing Series last year, qualifying on pole position at the Sandown round.
The Tasmanian driver has experience in the Carrera Cup Pro-Am with a best finish of second overall with Shae Davies in 2013.
After testing at Phillip Island this week, O’Keeffe is pleased with how Gowans has settled back into the Cup Car.
“Adam has a wealth of experience in all different cars, and he’s very adaptable,” said O’Keeffe.
“He slotted into our Porsche very comfortably, and I’m confident he will be competitive against the other Am drivers.
“We were looking for someone with some endurance experience, and Adam ticks this box as well – he has raced in the Bathurst 12 Hour.”
O’Keeffe is currently fifth in the standings after a consistent start to the season.
“Our pace has been good in the first two rounds at the Clipsal 500 and the Grand Prix, so we’ll be looking to convert it into podium finishes and hopefully race wins at Phillip Island,” O’Keeffe said.
The Carrera Cup Pro-Am enduro event will consist of two one-hour races, each with compulsory pit stops.
