Jeff Bobik has kept his title hopes alive in the GT3 Cup Challenge by winning Race 2 at Phillip Island.
The Creative Colour backed driver pressured front-row starter Steve Kepper in the early stages before making the winning move at Honda Corner on Lap 4.
Bobik later survived a Safety Car restart with four laps to go to win by 1.1s from Race 1 victor Ivan Klasan.
Roger Lago, Phil Morris, Terry Knight, John Modystach, Matthew Kingsley, John Morriss, Jan Jinadasa and Rob Knight rounded out the top 10.
The result sees Lago head into the final race of the season with a 23-point margin over Bobik, with 31 points still up for grabs.
Kepper would greet the chequered flag in just 11th position having spun at Honda Corner on the restart lap.
The incident also removed any chance of victory for Kinsley. The 2009 GT3 Cup Challenge winner had charged from the back of the field after his gearbox failure yesterday, moving from 20th to 12th on the first lap alone.
Kingsley sat sixth at the time of the Safety Car – called for Bob Thorn being stranded at Turn 1 – but subsequently lost three places while taking to the grass to avoid the spinning Kepper.
John Trende and John Goodacre had earlier clashed on just the second lap, with the pair sliding across the grass on the inside of the circuit after making contact exiting Turn 4.
The muddied Goodacre entry eventually finished in 18th position, while Trende was out on the spot.
The third GT3 Cup Challenge race of the Shannons Nationals presented by Hi-Tec Oils weekend will take place at 1300 local time.
