Hankook Competition Australia has entered a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X RS in next month’s Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour.
Peter Conroy Motorsport (in conjunction with Team Mitsubishi Ralliart) will run the Hankook-backed Lancer in the once-around-the-clock race, with Conroy to be partnered by Mark Brame and Anthony Robson.
The trio will compete on the Hankook Ventus track day tyre for the race.
Team owner Conroy is pleased to introduce Hankook to the Australian racing market.
“We are really excited that Hankook has chosen to launch its Australian motorsport program with Peter Conroy Motorsport,” Conroy said.
“Our team finished first and second in last year’s Bathurst 12 Hour in Class F and we believe with EVO X and the team we have assembled, we can make a successful jump into Class A and aim for outright success.”
Hankook will also support the two Class D Honda Integras of sister team Conroy Motorsport, led by veteran racer Terry Conroy and team regular Carl Schembri.
Hankook Tyre Australia marketing and public relations manager José Angeles is excited to kick-off Hankook’s foray into domestic motorsport.
“Hankook has a rich history in endurance racing around the world at tracks including Le Mans and the Nürburgring, so we are very pleased to start our local motorsport program at a track as challenging as Bathurst,” Angeles said.
“The Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour is a great place to test our Ventus track day tyre and with three experienced drivers piloting the EVO X, I think we can challenge the race’s established names for the outright win.”
The Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour is scheduled for February 12-14 at Mount Panorama.
