ECB SuperUtes Series leader Ryal Harris has set the pace in Practice 1 for Round 2 at the Pirtek Perth SuperNight meeting.

In the series’ first session at Barbagallo Wanneroo Raceway, Harris got down to a 1:11.6727s on his fifth lap, having started off with a 1:12.2160s in the #1 Peters Motorsport Mazda BT-50.

Elliot Barbour briefly held the ascendancy with a 1:11.8419s in the #78 Sieders Racing Team Mitsubishi Triton which was ultimately good enough for second.

Tom Alexander improved with his final lap of the half-hour session but remained third in the #22 Ross Stone Racing Isuzu D-Max at 0.2502s off the pace, while Ben Walsh and Mick Sieders (#10 SRT Toyota Hilux) rounded out the top five.

Walsh brought out a red flag in the 24th minute when he came to a stop on the exit of Turn 1 with an apparent technical problem for his #8 Hilux.

Such was Harris’ confidence with his package, he did not bother to venture back onto the track when green flags flew again with three minutes remaining.

Last year’s series runner-up, Craig Woods, continued to struggle in the #64 Western Sydney Motorsport Hilux as he finished the session sixth fastest and 0.7529s slower than Harris.

A total of 10 cars took to the track after 13 were entered for Round 1 in Adelaide.

Practice 2, a 20-minute session, starts today at 1625 local time/1825 AEST.
