Andre Heimgartner has won the final race of the Carrera Cup and in the process the round at Mount Panorama.
After winning the second race, Heimgartner got a great start to head David Wall through Hell Corner.
Down the field Simon Ellingham squeezed up the inside of Marc Cini and pushed him wide into Stephen Grove. Both Cini and Grove retired from the race with damage.
Heimgartner quickly checked-out up front, but Wall was on the defensive from a determined Alex Davison.
Nick McBride got through on Cameron McConville for fourth as a string of cars all tried to move ahead.
The big mover was Jaxon Evans, who after failing to finish race #2, moved from 16th up towards the front.
On the fourth of nine laps Davison made his move on Wall at the Chase. Jordan Love tried the dame manoeuvre on Dan Gaunt but locked his brakes spun across the grass.
At the finish it was Heimgartner ahead of Davison and Wall; all three drivers set to drive in the Supercheap Bathurst 1000. McBride coming home in fourth from McConville and Evans.
Heimgartner also broke the 2015 lap record of Matt Campbell by nearly three-tenths; Evans and Davison also went under the old mark.
Tim Miles took all three races in the Tag Heuer Carrera Challenge for the semi-professionals with Marc Cini taking second and Graham Williams in third.
The Carrera Cup season concludes on the streets of the Gold Coast with Wall taking the points lead into the final round.
