Chris Holder has finished third at the British Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, moving himself into third position in the Championship, whilst veteran Greg Hancock’s amazing year continues, taking the win.
Hancock – who despite being on the other side of 40 – has found form in 2011 and with Tomasz Gollob not making the semi-finals of Speedway’s showpiece now sits with a 12 point advantage in the Championship race.
The Final had to be re-run after the first attempt when Holder and Russian Emil Sayfutdinov came together.
Hancock sprinted out of the wide gate four and on a tough first corner, admitted he had no choice but to pray he was going to come out in front, which he did.
The American beat home former World Champion, Nicki Pedersen and Holder in the Final.
The other Australian in the Speedway Grand Prix field, three times World Champion Jason Crump had a less than memorable night on the sport’s biggest stage, walking away from Wales with eight points, having been knocked out at the semi-finals stage.
