Lee Holdsworth is set to part company with Erebus Motorsport next season in a shock development ahead of this weekend’s Plus Fitness Phillip Island 400.
It is understood that the Betty Klimenko-owned squad is set to confirm Holdsworth’s departure today.
There are several unconfirmed seats for 2015 however it is believed that Holdsworth is headed for the #18 Charlie Schwerkolt seat.
Speedcafe.com has learnt that Holdsworth has secured the drive in Schwerkolt’s Ford which will be confirmed simultaneously with the Erebus announcement.
While it was reported that Holdsworth had renewed a fresh deal with Erebus for a further two seasons from next year, the contract had not been officially signed.
Holdsworth would not be drawn into confirming the switch other than to say he remained under contract with Erebus until the end of this season.
“I’m contracted with Erebus until the end of the year and I’m just looking forward to Phillip Island this weekend,” Holdsworth told Speedcafe.com
“Other than that I have no further comment.”
Erebus chief executive Ryan Maddison did not immediately return a call from Speedcafe.com nor did the team’s media representative.
Holdsworth joined Stone Brothers in 2012, which morphed into the Erebus operation, and recorded the only win to date for the E63 AMG-badged car at Winton earlier this year.
A new team-mate for Will Davison, who remains at the Yatala-based team on an ongoing contract, is now being sought.
